Talented creators give viral music first heard on TikTok another shot.
TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, has seen the rise of countless talented creators and viral content all over the platform. Many aspiring and up-and-coming musicians have found their place within the community, confidently sharing their original songs and covers of popular tracks with anyone who can appreciate their music.
Seeing great potential in these music creators, TikTok is taking the initiative to support them by breathing new life into viral songs on the platform, and helping their music grow. TikTok does this by tapping onto popular creators to record cover versions of these viral tracks, and adding them into the immense music library in TikTok that users can easily access on the app.
Music starts on TikTok, and a couple of revamped songs have already skyrocketed in popularity among creators soon after their release on the platform last June. The first is the Zendee version of the Visayan song, Cutie Uyyy. This was followed by AD BEAT’s rendition of the song, Ikaw Lang.
Cutie Uyyy
The southern part of the Philippines may be considered an untapped resource when it comes to musical talent, and Cutie Uyy is proof of this. The song is so catchy that it gained recognition all over the country after its initial release in February 2020, and eventually went viral on TikTok, even though many listeners did not understand its lyrics.
Cutie Uyyy, a Bisaya phrase that means Hey Cutie, is an R&B Hip-Hop song that talks about young love, and being infatuated with a cute girl you just met. A year after it first went viral, TikTok gave this track a second life through a cover version performed by one of its top music creators, Zendee, who also hails from the southern part of the Philippines.
Listen to Zendee’s version of Cutie Uyyy here. Alternate versions of the track – Cutie Uyyy (Chorus) and Cutie Uyyy (Slowed Chorus) – are also available for creators on TikTok
Ikaw Lang
Released by the local band, Nobita, in May 2020, Ikaw Lang, which means Only You in English, is a love song that speaks of faithfulness, trust and devotion. The song recently experienced a resurgence on TikTok and other platforms, even making it to Spotify’s Viral 50 PH playlist. Since then, its music video has already hit over a million views.
Re-released on TikTok by real-life couple, Adrian Ferrer and Alliyah Cadelina, Ikaw Lang was given a beautiful new twist on the platform, thanks to the beautiful mix of Aaliyah’s angelic voice and Adrian’s prolific beatboxing skills. Singing together about a dream-come-true kind of love, the couple produced a timeless, romantic track that can easily melt the heart of anyone who listens to it.
Listen to a snippet of AD BEAT’s version of Ikaw Lang here. A 30-second cut of the track is also available on TikTok. Watch out for the release of the full song this July.

Axie Infinity is a Pokémon-inspired universe in which anybody may earn tokens via excellent gaming and ecosystem contributions. Players may use their pets to fight, acquire, nurture, and create a land-based empire.
Third parties may readily access all art assets and Axie genetic data, allowing community developers to create their own tools and experiences in the Axie Infinity realm.
Despite the fact that Axie is currently in early access, it is the most popular Ethereum game among daily, weekly, and monthly active users. So far, it has earned approximately 6,400 ETH in income (2 million+ USD).
Axie is a fun game, but it’s also evolved into a social network and an employment platform as a result of its early popularity, which has resulted in a strong community and play to earn chances.
The main distinction between Axie and other games is that our participants are rewarded for their contributions to the ecosystem using Blockchain economic architecture. The term “play to earn” has been used to describe this new gaming concept. During the Covid pandemic, Axie has drawn thousands of gamers from underdeveloped nations looking for a new source of money. Many of these participants are dads, aunts, and even grandparents who have never heard of Blockchain technology.
Players can earn by:
• To earn leaderboard rewards, players compete in PVP fights. • Axies can be bred and sold on the market. • Rare Axies like Mystics and Origins are collected and speculated about. • Farming for love potions, which are required for breeding Axies. These may be sold on Uniswap and Binance, among other exchanges. • Players can acquire a governance token, AXS, starting in 2021, which represents a genuine chunk of the game universe because it includes governance rights and fee sharing. Players may acquire this token by playing, thus it’s a win-win situation, a Ready Player One-style mission appears, in which players can acquire a piece of the universe. These tasks, however, are not winner-take-all, and each player is rewarded based on their work and expertise.
Axie’s Mission
Axie was created as an entertaining and informative approach to expose blockchain technology to the general public. Many of the founding members met while playing Crypto cats, and it was their first exposure to Blockchain for anything other than pure speculation. They quickly began work on Axie in order to bring the wonders of Blockchain technology to billions of people.
Prepare and share the best dishes from your city on TikTok, and you could win awesome prizes!
To further promote local cuisine across different channels, TikTok and the Department of Tourism have partnered to launch the #SarapMagingPinoy campaign, which aims to encourage more locals to celebrate Filipino pride by sharing treasured dishes from all over the country, and promoting the love of native cuisine among its locals. This digital campaign focuses on presenting users with the unique experience of exploring the Philippines through diverse food content, highlighting this as an integral part of our culture.
One of the best, and most enjoyable ways to learn about a culture is through their food. The tastes, textures, and flavors of a country’s cuisine reflect its rich heritage and history, and tell their own unique tales about every place, its people, and way of life. Here in the Philippines, we take such pride in our food that we have been recognized around the world as a culinary hub. Apart from being known as sociable people who love to gather around the table with friends and family, Filipinos also like to share our gastronomical delights online.
As TikTok’s official partner, the Department of Tourism believes in the great potential of the Philippines as a center of gastronomy, owing to its rich cuisine, it also reflects our history, cultural diversity, the stories of our destinations and way of life. By community food mapping, or associating food with culture and a specific destination, a more compelling story for travel is created, with food as an integral part of a traveler’s journey.
“On TikTok, hundreds of Filipinos have joined countless other foodie creators from all over the globe, who post about their native cuisine. Our food vertical showcases the history of our food, educating the new generation and others outside of the Philippines of how diverse and rich the Philippine culture really is. Because of this, browsing through the variety of food content on the platform can almost seem like a virtual culinary tour,” says Celina Tan, TikTok PH Marketing Manager.
According to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, “Food has been cooked using recipes passed down through generations, creating cuisines distinct to each region, and flavors unique to each province. And because food has come to define a particular place, it has called out to visitors seeking to try new dishes and experience different tastes. The art of eating has become a powerful motivator for traveling and we, at the DOT, will make Filipino food an integral part of the traveler’s journey.”
From June 1 to 15, 2021, users can take part in the #SarapMagingPinoy campaign by posting recipe videos that feature the best dishes from their cities. Videos must contain a short introduction that provides viewers with information on the dish and its city of origin. The video intro should also include the campaign’s thematic messaging of showcasing Filipino pride, and mention the key line, ‘Sarap maging Pinoy‘. In the video caption, users must include the hashtag #SarapMagingPinoy, along with a hashtag that indicates your city of origin, using the format #Lutong(city), for example #LutongCebu or #LutongDavao.
Celebrate Pinoy pride, and share your best #SarapMagingPinoy dishes on TikTok. To learn more, visit the #SarapMagingPinoy campaign page on TikTok.

Most Western readers will recognize Solo Leveling as one of the most common webtoon manhwa serializations today, but the series started as a web novel by writer Chugong in 2016. and was completed in the year 2018. Now, Yen Press is taking the light novel’s English edition to a broader audience, and even though you’ve already read the manhwa, the novel still has lots to come.
Solo Leveling is set in a world where dungeons and monsters came out of nowhere, reawakening people as hunters with supernatural abilities to kill them. The plot revolves around Jinwoo Sung, who is known as “the world’s worst hunter” before an unexpected occurrence in a strange double dungeon grants Jinwoo the ability to level up like a video game player. This is the start of Jinwoo’s quest to change his destiny and become the world’s best hunter.
Solo Leveling, like many other power-fantasy novels, gives a satisfying glimpse at how a protagonist will go from being despised by almost all to a dominant hunter loved by everyone in a brief period of time. The protagonist’s development is aided in part by a training routine inspired by One-Punch Man and outlined in the novel’s prologue.
The novel does one thing differently than the manhwa adaptation: it focuses on character psychologies. The earlier chapters of the double dungeon, in particular, offer some heart-pounding action by putting the protagonists in a life-threatening situation within a terrifying world that feels both grand and claustrophobic. The characters’ desperation is palpable because even if some of their actions seem heinous, they are nevertheless relatable in their clinging to existence.
Jinwoo, the protagonist, is depicted sympathetically from the start; he is frail and often mocked, and he must suffer daily suffering and numerous illnesses in order to provide for his family. He is thoughtful but not overly so; he is a fast thinker but not a genius. He is capable of making rash decisions that place him in danger, but his keen survival skills have saved his life on many occasions, including though he is still weak. Both of these characteristics combine to make him a formidable hunter. Jinwoo is often endearing due to minor character details. For example, he adds status points in multiples of fives to make the numbers fit, which is a charming quirk.
About the fact that Jinwoo is the protagonist, the book is not very kind to him. Jinwoo’s behavior grows more distant as the story progresses, eventually exposing the process of him losing contact with some of his conscience as he becomes more obsessed with becoming stronger. culminating in a bloodbath between hobgoblins. Jinwoo’s transformation exemplifies one of the novel’s central themes: hunters can also be monsters.
Netflix has released the first official trailer for volume 2 of Love, Death + Robots last Monday, April 19, giving a sneak peek on what’s to come: more aliens! more monsters! more explicitness! and more outrageous and splendid animations!
Personally, I have been waiting for ages for a continuation or a second season of the said series and now that Netflix has released a teaser, OMG! This just hyped up the fans more.
Futhermore, Netflix just sublty-but-not-so subtly confirmed that there will be a 3rd volume.
Love, Death and Robots Volume 2 will premiere on May 14 on Netflix.
Remember that time when you will just normal summon a monster in attack position and then you will set a card on your Spell/Trap zone facedown and end your turn. A game mostly about who can generate higher attacks and have that RNG hands to counter your opponent’s spells, traps, and attack. However, as time progress, this card game became more complex, and adapting to its changes is inevitable if you want to stay on the playing field.
Yu-Gi-Oh has been around for nearly 19 years so we can say the game will not retire any time soon. However, the very nature of the game evolved massively over the years and an indication can be said whenever Konami releases a new Yu-Gi-Oh timeline anime. The very first competitive deck that I’ve played is lightsworn, and if you’re a veteran player you know that this deck is a meta deck around 2010. Obtaining OCG cards is really difficult during that time especially when building lightsworn deck since some cards like Layla and Ehren are only available in super rare-grade. With perseverance and luck, eventually, I was able to complete my deck, and playing it with other players is a bragging right due to its rarity and complexity.
Lightsworn deck focuses on milling sending cards from the top of the Deck to the Graveyard. The vast majority of “Lightsworn” monsters mill a number of cards during the End Phase of their controller’s turn and/or can generally benefit from this mechanic. Your boss card of the Deck is “Judgment Dragon” you can special summon this card by having four or more lightsworn monsters with different names in your graveyard. The effect of Judgment Dragon is a bit game-breaking during that time because you can pay 1000 life points to destroy all other cards on the field, as long as you have life points to pay, you will be able to use this effect.
Pure lightsworn deck is strong no doubt about it. But, I’ve decided to transition to mixing light and dark attributes since Envoy of the beginning got lifted from the ban list. My deck is mixed with Necro gardna, Chaos Sorcerer, Gale, Plaguespreader, DAD, glow up bulb, Gorz. With this build, the power spike of my deck increased due to the removal effects of Envoy and, Chaos Sorcerer, plus the synchro monsters that I was able to summon with ease.
I was able to play until Exceed any my only exceed is Hope No:39. After that, my enjoyment of the game slowly diminishes perhaps due to the ban list that hit my deck, and. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any alternative decks to play and I’ve decided to quit and I sold my deck along with my binder so I will not be tempted to return again.
After a couple of years from hiatus. I’ve decided to try playing the game again and I was shocked since there are new rules, new types of cards, and summons. For me, as a returning player, it’s overwhelming due to the information that I have to absorb to play the game again in its current state. With these changes and an expensive approach in building a deck, I’ve realized it’s better that some things stay in the past.
I’ve tried playing the game again online but it went poorly. Things have definitely changed, with all my opponents always opening with elaborate combos that last five minutes or so and seeing your opponent stack their field with link monsters, pendulum, and many more, leaving me confused knowing that I have no possible response since their monster(s) negates effects or negates summons. The games are over in a few turns–it’s maybe ten minutes of drag, most of which I’m just watching,
It’s difficult to admit, but I’ve reached the limits of nostalgia. Yu-Gi-Oh is simply no longer enjoyable for me, and it appears there’s no way back into it unless I invest plenty of my time studying every new card, meta, rules, and summons. I left the game behind and, as I attempt to claw my way back in, it appears the game is rejecting me. The game itself and the community have evolved, but these changes seem to be negative on my end making me not enjoying the game anymore.
The alternative card game genre that I’m currently playing is Legends of Runeterra, so far I’m enjoying my experience here with my Nautilus deep deck and I hope the spark that I’ve used to have in Yu-Gi-Oh will be carried over here.
Before we prepare our arsenal we have to ask the question. What is Pixel Art? To put it simply, pixel art is a digital art form that most people use for video games especially in the early days as they were very limited in their color palettes and file capacity. However, nowadays has become its own respected medium that a lot of people actually admire due to its simplicity and nostalgic vibe. Also, it is pretty easy to get into due to its size restriction and how many squares you have to work with making it a go-to style for non-artists.
Full disclaimer I’m also just a beginner and this article will serve as a guide if you’re planning on transitioning or trying pixel art. With all that being said, let’s now talk about the tools that you need. I personally use “Aseprite” because of the straightforward UI and simple commands of the tools in it. But there are other tools that you can use like photoshop or gimp, but you should see your software as an investment making your life easier for the long run if you’re going to take this route seriously so you might as well pick something up that is built for pixel art.
Now, if you already have the necessary tools to make pixel art and have no idea where to begin, you can start with an 8 x 8 or 16 x 16 canvas, as you progress you will be able to do art in 32 x 32 or 64 x 64. But for now, you should stick with 16 x 16 which is the best resolution as you can still apply in a lot of detail at this level without the worry of overwhelming yourself and having too much blank space to work with.
The most important thing you need to understand about pixel art is that every pixel in your art serves a purpose. Working in a small canvass has a limited amount of pixel you can manipulate on your image, so make sure you use every pixel to its full potential making your pixel art distinguishable at glance.
For making structures, you need to create a silhouette of your image first and experiment until you get the image that you desire, then work on adding details and shading afterward. As for the colors, you have a lot of rules that you need to follow, but the only important stuff that you need to know is you’re always going to have a base color that you use to color an image in, then you’ll usually have a shadow of this color in a highlight of this color. If you want to learn more about color palettes, I highly advise checking https://lospec.com/palette-list.
Lastly, if you’re starting out, I highly advise looking at references and see how the best-looking rock, diamond, or robot was made. You should analyze other people’s art and breakdown their work and how they manage to solve a challenge that you are currently working on.
Final thoughts. With consistency and correct practice, you will be able to develop your own art style and you will be comfortable in choosing the correct palettes. The key here is to look for references, watch videos from veteran pixel artists since this is where you will be able to enhance your skills.
Having a good cry sometimes is good since having a good cry relieves stress, lowers body temperature, removes toxins, reduces manganese, and embraces your emotions to others. This list will take you on an unexpected emotional journey that touches upon themes like romance, drama, death, loss, and regret.
